Solid Waste and Recycling

Effective 6/1/22, Hill Country Waste Solutions (HCWS) will replace Waste Connections as the City’s sole provider of trash and recycling services. Beginning 5/16/22, HCWS will deliver residential and commercial trash cans. Beginning 5/31/22, HCWS will deliver commercial dumpsters. Replacement cans and dumpsters will match existing services. Participation in solid waste services is mandatory for all residents and business owners located within the City of Johnson City.

Trash service will occur weekly on Thursdays. Recycling service will occur biweekly on Thursdays. The biweekly recycling schedule will be broken up into two (2) groups: Group “A” will be properties located North of US Hwy. 290 and A. Robinson Road. Group “B” will be properties located South of US Hwy. 290 and A. Robinson Road. Click HERE for Group “A” and “B” calendars and a map.

Please place trash in the tote with the orange lid and along the curb before 7 a.m. every Thursday. Please place recyclables in the tote with the green lid and along the curb before 7 a.m. every other Thursday, depending on whether your residence is located within the “A” or “B” Group. Click HERE for scheduled recycling dates.

We are pleased to now offer residents and business owners an expanded list of services. Residents will no longer need to transport and dispose of brush and bulky items at the Waste Connections Transfer Station. HCWS will provide 8 cu. yds. of combined brush and bulky item curbside service twice per year in September and March. Click HERE for curbside service dates. Contact the Waste Connections Transfer Station at 866-282-3508 for onsite dumping availability.
